Isn’t a long and healthy life what we’re all looking for? Longevity without health is a drain on yourself and your family. Science has established that exercise is a crucial part of aging gracefully. But is taking long walks and going to a couple of yoga classes going to be enough? No it is not.
Muscle strength and muscle size play an underappreciated roll in our longevity and immune system. The number one correlative factor for healthy and longevity is muscle strength. If you are in the top third for your age and gender in muscle strength, you are 40% more likely to live to be 100 and 35% less likely to die from cancer. (3)
